General Event Information
The Down East Sled Dog Club will host the third annual Run Dawg Run Festival at the Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Maine on October 24-25, 2009.

This event will combine a dryland sled dog competition with dog-powered sports demonstrations and seminars on the proper care, conditioning and nutrition for pet athletes. The event vision is for a festival type atmosphere, with music, professional announcing, food and beverages along with on-site equipment vendors.

The dryland competition will include rig, canicross, bikejor and scooter classes. The competitions will include several format twists to make things interesting. The canicross, bikejor and scooter classes will consist of a one-day individual competition on Saturday followed by a team relay competition on Sunday. The rig class will be a standard two-day individual event. The Lead Dog Challenge Cup will be awarded to the first place relay team held on Sunday. First through third place trophies will be awarded for all individual classes.

Note: Your first Adult class is offered for $35, each additional class is offered for $10, all team competitions are offered for free.

Lead Dog Challenge Relay - All Canicross, Bikejor and Scooter competitors are invited to form relay teams for Sunday's finale event. Don't have a team? - Let us know, we will find a team for you. The relay will kick off with an exciting mass start for the Canicross leg. Canicrossers will negotiate a 3K trail and then tag off to their 1-dog Bikejor teammate. Bikejor teams will race the full 6K trail before the tag off to the anchor leg, the 2-dog scooter. The first scooter competitor to break the tape after completing the 6K trail is the winner and their team will take the honors of the first Lead Dog Challenge Relay Champion.

Individual Competitions

Adult Canicross (men's and women's) - One day event on Saturday, 6K trail, cross country course, grass and sand running surface. Water station for human and canine athletes at the halfway mark. All competitors are invited to compete in Sunday's Lead Dog Challenge Relay for free. Don't have a team? Lets us know, we'll find you one. Hands free running set-up highly recommended, dog harness required.

1 - Dog Bikejor - One day event on Saturday, 7K trail, wide cross country looped trail, no head-on passing, grass and sand running surface. All competitors are invited to compete in Sunday's Lead Dog Challenge Relay for free. Don't have a team? Let us know, we'll find you one. Helmut and safety glasses required.

Scooter - One day event on Saturday, 6K trail, cross country looped trail, no head-on passing, grass and sand running surface. All competitors are invited to compete in Sunday's Lead Dog Challenge Relay for free. Don't have a team? Let us know, we'll find you one. Helmut and safety glasses required.

**A mountain bike with the chain disengaged is allowed as a scooter.**

4 - Dog Rig - two day event, Saturday and Sunday, 6K trail, wide cross country looped trail, no head-on passing, grass and sand surface. Helmut, safety glasses and snub line are required.
